Alison Doody

Alison Doody was born in Dublin, Ireland. She is the youngest of three children, and her father worked in real estate. Her sister Elaine owns a modeling agency, and her brother works in the computer industry. Alison went to school in a convent, then she did a few TV commercials. Her first movie was the James Bond film View to a Kill, A (1985), in which she had a small but pivotal cameo as Jenny Flex. Doody's biggest involvement, though, was playing the part of Dr. Elsa Schneider in the third installment of the Indiana Jones franchise.

After that, she did a few more movies and then retired momentarily to marry the Irish media tycoon Gavin O'Reilly. Together they had two children.

And now that her kids are in school, Alison is considering making a few more movies. She will have a small role in Actors, The (2003), a comedy starring Michael Caine, Dylan Moran and Miranda Richardson. In 1999, Doody was asked to play Éowyn in the immensely popular franchise The Lord of the Rings, but she did not want to spend 18 months of her life in New Zealand. The role went to Australian actress Miranda Otto.

She is, by the way, living next door to the singer/songwriter Enya
