"Ice and Fire" - Part 2

The entrance was partly hidden with ice and snow...

The narrow entrance showed a huge cave that went deep into the montain...

It was clearly a magna-tube from some vulcano-eruption not so long ago... at least the heat was still on...

I managed to get past the boilding center of the cave, and shortly after I surfaced into a strange vally...

This was indeed a strange place with odd rockformations...

but there where something familiare about the whole place..

Something else caught my eyes...

Now I knew what this had to be...

I came to think of the antic writtings from Saxo who talks about the tomb of King Amled (known as Prince Hamlet by Shakespeare) and how there was hidden two symbols that would lead to his tomb. One of them  - "The Sun" - was hidden in the "clouds"...  the old desciption of the hideout matched this place exactly!

In the old Nordic mythology the world, it was told, was made from the bodyparts of the gigant, Ymer,  who was killed by Odin and his brothers. His flesh became the earth, his bones the mountains, sea and rivers from his blood, vegetations from his hair, the sky from his skull and the clouds from his brain!

The other part, "The Moon", could when brought together, locate the long forgotten tomb of Amled, where the source of happiness and succes  should rest untill the world was ready to gain from it once again.

I knew this story. When Amled died his people thought of it as the beginning of Ragnarock – the end of the World – when the Gians and the Gods was to fight the final battle – a battle where only 2 would survive – a man and a voman – and the world would have a new start.

The Moon and the Sun was at the begining of Ragnarock to be swallowed by the two wolves, Hate who was chasing the Moon, and Skoll who was going for the Sun.

No wonder this scared the living crap out of the old Vikings, and to prevent this from happen, they did hide “The Sun” and “The Moon”.

With the “Sun” and the “Moon” stuck away – Ragnarock couldn´t begin...they figured...hmmm....

Well... I was tolded this bedtimestory many times, but no one had ever located “The Sun” and “The Moon” – and the tomb of King Amled was never found. Actually some even doubted that he ever did eksist.

But what better way to hide “The Sun” than in the "clouds".... and these rocks came pretty close...

I was right!  This could not be anything else than one of the two icons that was hidden when King Amled died 716 AC.

Now that I had recovered “The Sun”, I knew that this “bed-timestory” was more than just that - fortune and glory was at my crasp, and I had a pretty good idea where to look for the second one....in Amleds old kingdom..Denmark!

To be continued in "The Tomb of Prince Amled" ...
